East Coast Trip

A few pictures of our East Coast trip.

Via Gellia and Woodside Cafe

A ride up to the Woodside Cafe at Via Gellia.

Another warm one but nice and cool in the trees. The usual crew.

Rob was a bit delusional on the day, he thought he looked like:-

but the reality was when he asked his wife she said, he looked more like:-

Just saying!!

The New Bike has Arrived

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 – Downtown Drag, that’s black and grey to most of us.

So far so good, a modern bike with a classic look and feel. I am still running it in, 4000rpm for the first 300 miles then 6000rpm up to 1200 miles. 4000rpm in 6th is about 60mph so its not too bad.

It’s a great bike to ride, the seat leaves a bit to be desired, if it doesn’t soften up I will change it. The brakes feel better than the Himalayan.

A ride in the sun.

Breakfast at Holly tree, then up to Via Gellia.

The traffic around sawmills and the A6 into Cromford was ridiculous. A quick cup of tea at the Woodlands cafe and then back to the Gate.

New bike arriving soon

Royal Enfield Interceptor

Another new toy. I did not expect to be getting this bike as quickly as I did, ordered on Tuesday May 18, phone call to say it had arrived Tuesday May 26, and will be ready for collection Saturday May 29. I did not expect it until sometime in July at the earliest.

Hats off to Smalley Cross Ltd, so far a much better to deal with than those other jokers in Derby.

It does mean the Pan European will have to go. I have not been using it much as its a bit heavy for my knees when moving around the drive.

Ride to the National Memorial Arboretum

A great ride through the villages. The traffic was a bit annoying at times, and the amount of temporary traffic lights was ridiculous.

We meet another Himalayan owner Nev, at the Arboretum. Nev is doing the LEJOG run soon so good luck to him.

The weather was lovely and the Arboretum is a magnificent place. Rob told us that his old regiment, 17/21 Lancers, was nick named ‘Bone Heads’. So we named his style of mounting his bike the Bone Head Shuffle.

The Bone Head Shuffle

As per normal we ended up at the Gate.

A quick spin to Stenson

Wednesday 28, 2021.

A short ride out to Stenson for a pint at the Bubble, and then back to the Gate.

A bit chilly but good to get out for a ride. Rob presented us with our Covid Vaccination Badge. Probably got them from Wish!!

Post Lockdown Rides

We have a couple of Rides since the lock down was eased.

Get your Butt in Shape

March 31st. A short run to the Marina to grab a cup of coffee and get our butts used to being back on the bikes. Weather was good and it was just good to be back on the bike.

Pint and Chips ride to Shardlow

April 12th. Another short run to get a pint and chips. Again the weather was good and thankfully not too busy.

Oily Davidson

A well oiled machine, a very well oiled machine!!

A bit too much oil
At least the drive is now clean

All set for our ride out to The Bubble. Starting with a breakfast at Holy Tree Farm when a certain rider arrives on his normally slick looking Harley, only today it was extra ‘slick’ oil slick!

The back of the bike was covered in oil, frame, drive belt, and tyre, all due to a bit of over enthusiastic filling of the oil tank the night before. Back home for a wash down before setting off again. Home was not hard to find, we just needed to follow the oil trail!!

So now the bike is known as an ‘Oily Davidson’ The culprit tried to buy our silence with an extra round in the bar, clearly that didn’t work.

Another good ride out.
